Revised 9/11 Memorial Is Unveiled – The finished design for the World Trade Center memorial site will build on the original concept of twin voids marking the location and outlines of the twin towers, but it will add lusher landscaping, create an underground center to house artifacts from the attack and establish a cultural center at the recreated intersection of Fulton and Greenwich Streets.

It looks nice, but I wonder if it’s starting to get a bit crowded. The original design seemed meaningful because of it’s simplicity, to emphasize the sense of loss, much like the Vietnam War Memorial. Now it almost feels as if the monument is trying to be “everything to everyone” and as a result the original impact is becoming somewhat muted.
