It’s a fascinating process involving removing dirt, scratches, color changes, and other items then using a render farm of Powermacs to stitch things back together. It brings to mind the fact that even in the digital age, archiving of data is still a difficult and important task – made even more important due to the vast quantities of data that are being generated by computers and stored to media like disks or CD’s with shelf lives of only 25 years or so.
