NJ 9/11 Memorial

The Star Ledger reports on a revival of plans for a public competition to design a 9/11 memorial for NJ victims to be placed in Liberty Corner State Park.

A previous contest was doomed by poor publicity and was scrapped in November after garnering only 19 submissions, none of which impressed the family members who were on the panel.

“I want to welcome and encourage artists, architects, dreamers and designers alike to submit an inspiring design concept for this meaningful project,” Gov. James E. McGreevey said in a statement. “The memorial will be a place for contemplation and remembrance — a place for families, friends and survivors.”

Information on the specifications and online registration can be obtained by visiting the 9/11 Memorial Site.
