Wegman’s Supermarket

p. We visited the new “(extlink)Wegman’s Supermarket”:http://www.wegmans.com in Woodbridge, NJ for the first time today and it was an overwhelming experience. The store is easily one of the largest stores I’ve ever seen, let alone grocery stores. There were fresh roasted chestnuts at the door, readymade chicken, pasta, tandoori, chinese food, pizza, and subs. The Market Cafe food court area is setup as a small town main street with faux buildings along the side, and an additional row of stands and counters in the middle. The second floor consists of a large eating are with tables, chairs, and couches. The grocery section store itself is full of departments with goodies like fresh breads, cheeses, caviar, nuts, groceries, and dairy products.

p. The scale of the store is simply massive. It felt like there were 500 employees walking around, and just throngs of people eating, and looking (mostly just looking). Opening day was definitely an attraction, with large crowds of shoppers walking by with just one or two items in their hands.

p. Although too expensive to shop their regularly, the store will definitely get added to my list of fun, time killing destinations.
