Personally, the design evokes memories of the Vietnam War Memorial, which faced similar criticisms when unveiled, but has come to be regarded as one of the most powerful and moving public memorials. I believe this monument has the possibility to have a similar legacy (far more so than the “freedom tower”:135 )
Hopefully however, the firefighters and other emergency personnel will get the recognition for their voluntary sacrifice that they deserve.
